I spent the past few months co-directing and producing these videos for Iris.

Between 1999 and 2015, the rate of deaths from prescription opioid overdoses increased 471% among women. In the same span, overdoses from synthetic opioids (like Fentanyl) increased 850% in women. This is an alarming epidemic, for sure, but it isn’t a new one, and the face of it in media is often whitewashed, stereotyped, or furthering dangerous stigmas surrounding addiction.

It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, and I’m really proud of it, and so grateful to these five women for sharing their stories to help dispel some of these misconceptions.
